The cast-brass cases are screwed together rather than soldered or welded and the finish is a beautifully distressed brass with a charming patina. All of the hinged heavy bezels are solid cast-brass with beveled glass. The dials are enamel. The mechanical movements are all German made. Eight-day time and strike on two brass bells. The Louis XIV is an exceptionally unusual example of Baroque design. Perhaps the most impressive quality of these pieces are the level of detail in the complete finish. The back as well as the front of the clock is finished with detail and florid design. The rear doors have red-upholstered grillwork. This K.
